POEM
Cooking in the Kitchen
The smell
The sight
The feeling of making someone's day just a little bit better
with food
She hums and sings no matter what the day brings
It always brings her joy to sip a little wine while we dine
and enjoy the lavish dinner that is served
From the oven, I smell the bread
As my mouth waters for the taste of garlic and butter
I light the candles and set the table, awaiting the dinner
The day spent slaving over chopping, bubbling, and brewing
She puts a smile on our faces when we come home
and see her working away just to fill us up after a long day away
After our bellies are stuffed its time to clean up
As I wash the dishes he wipes the counters
The long day cooking just one meal for only thirty minutes of praise
and clean up
Enjambment- (The feeling of making someone's day just a little bit better with food, It always brings her joey to sip a little wine while we dine, She puts a smile on our faces when we come home

Internal Rhyme- (sings and brings, Wine and Dine, day and away)
Onomonatpoeia- (hums, bubbling)

Song Analysis (umbrella)
Umbrella by Jay-Z and Rihanna is a love song… I think. Throughout the song I found many techniques that Jay-Z and Rihanna used. I had to read it multiple times in order to find them though. When I first heard this song, which was a long time ago, I didn't even notice all of the great poetry techniques used; now I have a new appreciation for this great song.
Throughout the song there is plenty of slant rhyme. Also there is a strong use of assonance with the a sound and the s and sh sounds. It took me a while to realize that any of these techniques even existed throughout the song. I also notice the use of euphony and cacophony in it, I don't think I've seen a poem/song with the use of both of these wonderful techniques or maybe I have and just didn't realize but they work well together.

Research paper… Concerns? YES
For the most part I'm confident in my thesis. I think that it is great, if i do say so myself… However, I having major problems with talking all of my work and turning it into paragraph form. I emailed Dr.d about it ALL day. I was super difficult. I also had trouble finding new sources, I had to find three new ones.
I really need help writing my conclusion, I feel as if it doesn't have the same tone as the rest of paper and I think it feels rushed. I also need some help on seeing weather or not my paper flows. When copying and pasting things from my detailed outline it was hard to make it sound as if it went together.

Free Post
Over the snow days I didn't spend that much time relaxing. It was pretty great, I love being grounded because then I get to do all types chores for my parents. I love doing manual labor because it "teaches me lessons about life and when I go off to college I will be able to be independent" (my dad). (by the way this was all sarcasm…)
I don't like the virtual school days because I don't think i'm disciplined enough to do what I need to do. I put off a lot of the work for the virtual school days until thursday… probably not the best decision i've made in my life.

Reading Log
Over the snow days I spent a lot of time working on my rough draft and finding more sources for my paper. I spent about an hour looking for new sources and making new notecards and then I spent another hour working on the actual draft. I also spent two hours re-reading my favorite book "The Tale of Despereaux"
