POEM

Cooking in the Kitchen

The smell
The sight
The feeling of making someone's day just a little bit better
with food

She hums and sings no matter what the day brings
It always brings her joy to sip a little wine while we dine
and enjoy the lavish dinner that is served

From the oven, I smell the bread
As my mouth waters for the taste of garlic and butter

I light the candles and set the table, awaiting the dinner

The day spent slaving over chopping, bubbling, and brewing
She puts a smile on our faces when we come home
and see her working away just to fill us up after a long day away

After our bellies are stuffed its time to clean up
As I wash the dishes he wipes the counters
The long day cooking just one meal for only thirty minutes of praise
and clean up
