"Ambition is a positive, desirable trait in a person."
I agree with the statement above, to an extent. In Macbeth, Macbeth, wants to be king so badly that he is willing to kill the current king in order to achieve his goal. I think that ambition, if not taken to far, is a good thing and is what makes up human desire. If people had no ambition then we would not have things like: Apple computers, I-pods, Canes, etc. Ambition is what drives us towards things, it is what makes us want to do better; without it we would have nothing.
"Everyone is capable of lying, betrayal, and violence, which are basic parts of human nature."
Everyone is capable of lying, betrayal and violence, it is up to the person to decide weather or not to act upon the desire to do so. All of those things are available to each and every person and can be grasped at any time however, depending on the moral standard that one has set for him or herself they may choose to ignore the urge to lie, betray or act in a violent manner. So, I do believe that lying, betrayal and violence are basic parts of human nature but I don't think that everyone acts in such a way.
Cole, I couldn't agree more. Everyone needs ambition in there lives, such as what you said about Apple computers, I-pods, Canes (etc). None of these things would be invented without ambition in a person. Everyone is capable of lying, betrayal, and violence. I think that all of these things are in human-nature to an extent.
ReplyDeleteI love how you related Macbeth within the first statement. What a great way to incorporate what we are doing in class with an assignment outside of class. I also loved your explanation to the second statement. "It is up to the person to decide weather or not to act upon the desire to do so." I could not agree more! Great job girl!
